BACKSTORY

Cumulus was born out of a desire for communication and community amongst the peoples of Birmingham. It is a space (a welcoming, nonbiased atmosphere of mutual respect) for the free exchange of ideas and art, that is to say, expression. Creative writing, visual arts, social commentary, philosophical/psychological discussion, community announcements, and anything else which promotes communication and unification on common ground may be included in a given issue. Cumulus is not a rebellion.
The zine exists for people to reach other people. The zine is not a self-aware entity which judges what is and recycles its own in-jokes. Rather, people are Cumulus and without people it would cease to be. Currently, the two brains behind Cumulus are Daniel DeVaughn and Josh LaFayette. They have known each other since birth. Seriously.
